Drop some quarters in the jukebox and stay awhile...

The original Landmark Bar jukebox was stocked with great tunes of the day and was the pride of Bill the Bartender. Our new "virtual" jukebox is stocked with carefully selected songs for your listening pleasure. In addition you'll find other music related to the theme of this site. Enjoy.

Rants In My Pants...

Bazar

I left Greenpoint 20 years ago. Needless to say a lot has changed in those 20 years. Real estate boomed, prices sky rocketed and tons of new people moved in. The face of the Point changed.

I was bitter about the boom for the longest time. Angry over all the changes going down in "my" town. I was especially pissed off over old time Greenpointers being priced out for nothing more than the crime of not owning property. For years whenever I visited Greenpoint or came across a news story about the changes taking place I cringed and I fumed.

I cringed and I fumed for years.

But now, finally, I no longer cringe and fume. I am in a better place. For one, I have finally come to realize that Greenpoint is no longer "my" town. Hell, I've lived in Jersey the last 20 years. Also, as I've been reading up on the history of Greenpoint, I've come to see that over the centuries Greenpoint has gone through many "booms" and "facelifts". What has happened recently is just the latest.

I'm still pissed off over people getting priced out but overall I have reached a more mature and peaceful view of it. Good for me.

So with all that said, welcome to the Landmark Tavern. Here at the Landmark you will find links to things that are happening in the Point today. And there are tons of things happening today. There are many, many people doing lots of exciting and creative things. As I fish the web I will provide links to those that interest me the most.

Also at the landmark you'll be able to keep tabs on some of the old Center crowd and find out what they're doing these days.
